Home Remedies for Skin Disease

Our body is covered with a beautiful covering called as skin. Nothing is more lovely and attractive than a glowing, healthy skin. All too often, though, one's appearance is marred by ugly scars and chronic eruption which may not have occurred if our skin receives proper care. Skin diseases are found in families. Members of the same family suffer from various skin diseases. But if one remains aware of keeping skin healthy, it may inhibit the development of skin diseases.

Functions of skin

Skin protects our internal organs from injury. Skin is the outermost layer of our body which prevents harmful germs from entering into our body. Enzymes present on the surface of the skin destroy harmful germs and keep your skin intact and healthy. Any break in the continuity of skin can give a way to these harmful germs which may produce infections of the skin. Skin also helps to regulate the temperature of the body. Sweat glands present in skin produces sweat when you feel hot and cool down the body. In this way it helps to maintain proper temperature of your body.

Different Skin diseases

There are different kinds of skin disease which may be caused by bacteria or viral infection. Some important bacterial infections of the skin include acne, impetigo and acne rosacea. Viral skin diseases include chicken pox, herpes, warts and measles. Fungus can also cause infection of the skin such as fungal infection of foot, boils, furuncles and folliculitis. Some skin diseases are hereditary that is they are transmitted from one generation to the other. Some of the common congenital skin diseases are psoriasis, eczema and dermatitis.

Signs and symptoms of skin diseases

Most of the skin diseases have common symptoms such as redness, burning and itching. Some skin diseases are characterized by eruptions such as acne. Skin become sore and may develop eruption from which fluid may ooze. Itching of the skin aggravates at night in bed. Color of the skin changes. Pus filled eruptions are seen in skin diseases such as in acne rosacea. Skin becomes dry and it may bleed. Easy flushing of the skin is observed in people with skin diseases. In psoriasis there are white flakes of the skin which may fall off.
