Home Remedies for Obesity

Obesity or over weight results due to over eating of excessive amount of fats. These extra fats store in body which results in increased muscle mass and is known as obesity. Extra fat deposits in fat tissue for future use but deposition of excessive amount of fat causes over weight as well as obesity.

Obesity itself is not a disease but it may cause many other life threatening diseases such as diabetes, heart problems, hypertension etc. Generally whether a person is obese or not is determined by measuring body mass index. Body mass index is calculated by taking age, height and weight into consideration. A person who has 20% above the normal body mass index is said to be obese.
Causes of Obesity
Obesity results from overeating and taking excess fats in the diet. When a person consumes more calories as compare to the requirement of the body, it causes accumulation of fats in body tissues and results in obesity.

Sedentary habits are another important cause of obesity. People who lack physical exercise are prone for developing over weight and increased body mass.

Signs and symptoms
Fat cells increase in size and number. Excess fat can be easily seen around the wait. Obesity may lead to many other health problems such as:

High blood pressure is a common symptom in people who are obese.

Diabetes is a common medical problem in obese people. It is found that obese people are more prone to suffer from type 2 diabetes.

Hormonal imbalance is common and it may lead to thyroid disorders.

  • Take one tea spoon honey, mix it with half a glass of lukewarm water and put half a lime in it. Drink this everyday in the morning. It greatly helps to reduce body weight.
  • Cabbage is found to be an effective home remedy. Daily eating of cabbage in salad helps to reduce body weight.
  • Tomatoes also help to reduce weight. Eat one or two tomatoes everyday in the morning skipping breakfast for few months. This will help to reduce weight.
  • Eat fruits and vegetables and low calorie food. Fruits are rich source of anti-oxidants and increase immunity of the body.
  • Do not drink water while eating food. Drink water after half an hour of every meal.
  • Regular walk greatly helps to reduce body weight.
  • Do not sleep immediately after eating food. It is recommended that a person should go to bed after two hours of eating food.
