Acne

Acne is a common skin condition that may be seen in young boys and girls. Acne is common during teen age due to over production of sebum from sebaceous glands of the skin.

Acne may be acute or chronic. Acute acne may be seen as red spot on the skin. Chronic acne is in the form of pustule and leave scars even after healing. In some people acne may be seen as tender, red bumps which are commonly called as pimples. It is mostly seen in people with oily skin.

Acne may occur at any part of the body such as back, chest, shoulders, face etc. In some teenager acne disappear on its own with advancing age but in others they remain for a long time and affects skin by leaving permanent scars. It is not necessarily a teenager condition, but it can also occur in middle age due to imbalance of hormones.

Acne may appear in different forms on the skin. In some individuals these are seen as small blackheads or whiteheads. In other cases acne appear as red portions of raised skin. These red bumps may get filled with pus which is commonly called as pustules. Pustules may be big or small in size. In severe cases, it may cause pain and itching of the skin. These may also leave scars on the skin which is difficult to remove. Acne may appear on any part of the body. Skin may become unhealthy in appearance.
