Acidity

Acidity is a common disorder that may be produced due to overproduction of hydrochloric acid from stomach. Acidity may lead to ulcerative colitis or gastric ulcers if not treated for a long time. Acidity is not a disease, it is only a disorder.

Acidity may lead to other digestive symptoms such as vomiting, nausea, pain in the stomach and constipation. Hydrochloric acid is secreted by stomach for digestion of food from stomach lining. It enhances the action of digestive enzymes and facilitates in the digestion of food.

But when amount of hydrochloric acid increases, it leads to a medical condition called as acidity or other name for the same is Gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD). When food is not properly digested, it leads to the formation of toxic substances which may cause acidity. Acidity results due to accumulation of toxins in your body.
